Chapter 1 - A typical Monday
- Introduce world
- Introduce Wilson
- Introduce Linda
"Memory, memory, memory must be funny, in a rich man's mind". Suddenly, the memomusic is silenced and the memoscreaming begins. Wilson eyes are snapped open, then the ice chill overruns him as the temperature plummets. He dives up from the bed, racing to a drawer to try to stop this frosty horror. Just as he finds a shirt, he feels a clasping hand on his naked shoulder. He is then spun round, still half frozen, naked and barely awake unsure what is going on. Wilson eyes slowly unveil a familiar beauty, smiling and standing naked before him. She looks Wilson over before speaking out, "Sorry Wilson babe, I did not mean to startle you there. You never do get used to that memoalarm. I just wanted to wish you luck for today". Wilson slowly smiles before replying to a dressing Linda, "Thanks Linda honey, maybe someday I will be able to tolerate that memoalarm. Well I shall definitely need the memoriser today for work, especially with that case". Wilson continues getting ready, placing a memobaton to his uniform then continues, "This will be a first, facing a celebrity like CEO Abassid Hong in the thought police court is not an everyday occurrence". Linda smiles back, as she attaches her memobank ID, "Well Wilson babe, you know I will be memogossiping this around the memobank, that my husband is trying a celebrity today". Wilson getting the last of his uniform sorted out, replies to her, "Yes that reminds me, good luck today at the memobank", after a slight pause he continues, "especially with the memotax assessments". Linda pulls on the last of her clothes, giving him a grimace on the way out firing out a reply "don't remind me of that", before departing to use the memoriser downstairs. Wilson then stretches, before heading to the memomirror. He looks over his thought police uniform, smoothing any ruffles being revealed by it. Wilson can hardly keep his hands from shaking as he prepares for his day, not realising that this will be his last typical Monday.
- Wilson uses memoriser
Wilson now began to sprint on down the stairs, when he is stopped by a blow to the head. A frown crosses his brow, as the offending agent on his forehead begins to dry off. He stares back up to the roof, where the water drop began its journey. Wilson shouts down to Linda, "Honey, the roof is leaking again. We will need to get something done about that". He dries his head as his trek ends, when the memodoor fails to open for him. Wilson shakes his head he then shouts on in, "Linda honey, I need to get on the memoriser soon today with work and getting ready for the big case". Linda yells back out, "Just a minute Wilson, I will be ready soon. I was just getting some more memoriser information for work, as it has been busy at the memobank, especially with terrorism and memotax assessment day". Wilson smiles to himself, Linda is always like this with the memoriser. Finally the door opens, revealing a flushed Linda, who gives him a sheepish look as she leaves, "sorry babe, I needed that extra time you know. Good luck at work". Without missing a step, she swirls round, "well that s is I off to the memobank see you later babe". Wilson smiles back, retorting "yeah yeah any old excuse, see you later honey". Once Linda is gone Wilson now marches into the bathroom. Looking across the room, his gaze attaches to the object beside the sink. This is the mighty instrument, which ended money, disease and brought learning to all. Yet for such a mighty machine, the memoriser has an unassuming shape, similar to that of an ancient earth hair salon holder. This is due to its convenient headspace position, covering the head and brain. Wilson now walks over and sits underneath the memoriser. Immediately it detects him and homes in. It engulfs Wilson, surrounding his head, just at his nose before firing in to restrain him. He then feels a strange tingling in his ears and a slight tap to the head as the memoriser begins its work and all the light in the world goes out. After a brief period of darkness, Wilson is hit by flashes. Abruptly, he feels a surge of images bombarding him. Wilson now glimpses flash of new knowledge, information on roof repair as well as more work related information like prisoner thought crime sheets and that it is his partner Eduardo birthday today. Wilson is also given information that his memoriser at work needs repairs. Suddenly he feels a burning sensation hitting him as excessive memories are singed from his mind. Wilson sees brief images, some of him as a child, others of chatting to friends and one of a drip of water hitting his head before they vanish into the memoriser abyss before a tear can fall from his eyes. Now Wilson is exposed to a soothing calmness, which washes over him, from the memoriser endorphins or memomorphine as some call it. This is to heal any pain due to memoriser termination of irrelevant memories. Finally it powers down and allows Wilson out, changed to face the world.
- Linda arrives at work
Linda clears up herself as the memoscan begins. She can feel it working through her, checking for any hostile intent or desires that could affect the memobank, a measure recently passed by the government to stop the free mind terrorists. After plunging through her mind and verifying her identity, the memoscanner verifies her as clean. Linda is now able to enter into the memobank. Just as she gets in, she is almost overwhelmed by the bustling of people in for memotax assessments. Linda, remembering her memocredit status, represses a groan and goes to her working zone. Here she is started by her colleague Rodriguez, "hey Linda, great to see you today". She smiles, remembering that good social behaviour bring memocredites, then replies, "yes good to see you as well Rodriguez. How has it been so far today at the memobank". He puts on a weary face, replying "It's been busy so far as you would expect, with memotax assessment day and all. That not even counting those we had to stop with the new antiterror memorules". Linda is briefly puzzled, before recalling the rules were added to her memory this morning, "oh of course. Well I had better get started. Have a good day". Rodriguez leaves as Linda puts out all her equipment, setting up the memoscanner system, while she struggles to maintain her cheery mood for the memoriser later on, not realising that this will be her last normal day at work for a long time.
- Wilson gets into his memocar
- Radio address, intro president James chin
- Intro political terrorism situation
Outside his house, Wilson now briskly walks down towards the black metallic object awaiting him there. Once he reaches it, he is halted as it scans him. After a few seconds it then opens, awaiting his entrance. Wilson now moves robotically into the object. Once he is inside, this signals a flurry of activity. He is restrained by a belt which winds round him, forcing Wilson onto the seat, while the memoheadset clasps around his head, using his action potentials to power up the memocar engine. This starts up a whole range of new activity as on goes the memoradio, which is playing a speech. Wilson starts listening as the memocar leaves the driveway and automatically starts going off to his work. One the memoradio a memospeech is played for him, both on the automater and through his mind of the president James Chen "fellow citizens, despite the terrible threats that free mind has been making, I can announce that our brave heroic spy agency, closed mind has captured six terrorists". Then the president leaves a pause, before continuing, "These terrorists have been charged with planning material support for attacks on the state. I cannot reveal the exact charges due to national security". Another dramatic pause is inserted, before the president resumes the speech, "but I can announce that no longer will our world be under threat from these monstrous killers. However we must all remain vigilant as more terrorists may be out there, so I am announcing a curfew at 9pm and increased security checks at all cities". Yet another pause is tacked on, before the President ploughs on "but we must remember we are winning the battle for security. The thugs of free mind will never win". Good news at last, Wilson smiles to himself. All it requires is a small sacrifice by us to make us all safe from these terrorists. He relaxes with that thought in mind, not pondering where it came from.
- Linda bank work
- Client rejection, political situation expand
Linda now gazes at the client, noting the professional suit he is wearing. As normal she performs the company greeting policy, it does get you memocredits if done correctly. "Hi I am Linda Wilson, take a seat and place your head into the memoriser and I will begin to assess your case". The customer now inserts his head into the memoriser, while Linda gets a memocredit rating on them. She now places her own head into the memoriser and now looks over the details provided by the memoscan. The customer, named Dennis Milton is looking for a memoloan for a new home he is planning to get. Linda looks over his routine memocredit rating; it seems to look fine at the moment. Linda now delves deeper using the recent law passed allowing political opinions to be used, including those erased. This procedure is still new to her, but the memoriser gave her the information on how to do it. She is now hit by new information; the customer was involved in a small demonstration when he was younger, nearly 12 years ago during the last days of the old government, before the split leading to free mind taking up arms under opposition leader Mikael Nahk. She remembers him making ludicrous claims about government using memorisers to suppress democracy. Linda automatically dismisses this as total nonsense of course, helping her memocredit rating. Although she can't find any actions of the customer acting against the state, under the bank new aggressive thoughts procedure, that is enough to reject. Linda looks back at the customer now, "hi I am sorry mar Milton, your memocredit rating is too poor to allow a mortgage to be given out". He looks at her with surprise, "I do not understand, what was wrong. I was going to use this to buy a home and let me start up a company from there". Linda looks at him, "As I said, the memobank has very strict rules on who it can give out memoloans too. Now I suggest you go back to work and try in the future, once your rating has improved". He looks at her disappointment written over his face before responding, "Can't you at least tell me why I was rejected". Linda now glares at him, "No I am sorry we have new anti terror rules forbidding that. Now I have other customers waiting and its memotax assessment day. I have asked you to leave once and if you do not leave now, I will record a memocomplaint on your record". Dennis Milton now leaves rapidly fleeing the building. Linda looks out, a frown covering her face. She did not feel comfortable with that, but the rules are the rules and everyone must follow them on the world. Linda clenches her fist, sighing as she realises that she displayed sympathy, could be costly for memocredits. She makes a mental note for next time as she moves on to deal with her next client.
- Wilson prepares to undergo security search
The memocar finally makes its last manoeuvre, taking Wilson into a major car park. Wilson smiles, as he gets out. The familiar dark landscape is brightened by sunlight bouncing in. Wilson now checks his memowatch, on time as usual. He smiles with relief; those who are late suffer memoloss to their memocredit rating. Luckily, as far he can remember, this has never happened to him. He instinctively shivers at that chilling thought. Banishing that from his mind, Wilson marches to the station, looking over it as he goes. The thought police skyscraper is ten stories high, although now dwarfed by the new closed mind spy building at 100 stories, it is still massive. Here is where most criminal and legal work is carried on neuron, except for terrorist offences which closed mind deal with. It has even been rumoured that Nhoj Htims, the head of closed mind is looking at him for a position at his organisation. Although where that thought came from, he does not know. Putting it out of mind, Wilson enters the building. He relaxes briefly; unfortunately the queue for security searching is longer than normal. Still that is the price of being able to live without giving up our daily freedoms to terror. Eventually Wilson reaches the end of the security gate queue. Here one of the security guards, Jim comes up to him, with a memoscanner in hand. He gives Wilson a brief glance before he starts up chatting to him, "Ah Wilson smith, how are you today. I suppose you heard that due to our success against the terrorists, we are increasing our search time by presidential order to prevent a revenge attack". Wilson looks back at him, remembering the need to earn memocredits with social graces, "yes I found out on the way to work by memoradio". Jim keeps looking forward past him, while pointing the memoscanner at him, "okay Wilson, just put your head into the security memoriser as normal and we will perform the extra search when you are in it. Sure you will not feel a thing". He then points to a piece of equipment which he has a particular dread of, the security memoriser. This was designed for criminal investigations, to extract memories required by detectives from unwilling criminal suspects. Now with the increased terror alert, these are now more commonly used as defensive measures against terrorism on suspects and key personnel, as a preventive measure. Wilson clears his thoughts quickly then begins taking deep breaths, before slowly descending his head into the security memoriser. He then turns his hands into fists, tightens his eyes shut to prepare for the scan.
- Intro Dr. Xanax
- Memoriser alteration
"Have you made the change I requested", Dr. Xanax now replies, "yes I altered the detectives system. When he gets in, he will undergo the requested procedure and CEO Abbasid Hong will be safe from him". The voice now ceases its demands as the good doctor packs up his equipment and makes the last few modifications to the memoriser. Dr. Xanax now leaves the office, looking up at the name plate on the door, Detective Wilson smith. He then shouts out to a secretary, "have a good day and let the detective know that his memoriser has been repaired now". The secretary smiles at him, not realising what I have done, "thanks, have yourself a good day Mr. Xavier Xanax". He walks on out smiling; this is one day that detective Wilson smith will not forget in a hurry. The question is will live up to his billing as our last hope at change on this world as well.
- Intro Nhoj Htims
- Security obsession
Security Chief Nhoj Htims combs over security systems, reviewing data that he gathered for closed mind. He can almost feel himself enjoying it, so much power over so many people, it is almost intoxicating. He can nearly imagine himself being seduced by its power, like that fool president James Chen. But he is in control of course. He will never allow himself to be that obsessed by it. He notes that his agent has yet to call back, although he was sent to infiltrate the police station. Puzzling incidence this, still Dr Xavier Xanax is a brilliant scientist and his neural pattern can be reused if something goes wrong with this particular agent. He then contacts his subordinate, "lieutenant, can you locate Doctor Xavier Xanax for me. I wish to debrief him on his operation". The subordinate takes a deep breath, before replying, "I am sorry sir, we have been looking for him. It seems that he has disappeared". Puzzled, Nhoj Htims replies "I want him found as soon as possible". Nhoj Htims now goes back to scanning and looking for those that are a threat to his world.
- Wilson security search begins
Wilson grabs his eyes shut just as the bombardment begins. The security memoriser now starts hunting though his mind for hostile memories. It has the unpleasant ability of reminding Wilson of a traumatic incident when he was younger. This was when a fire killed his mum, dad and also his brother john smith. Although he had memotreatment to control the negative reaction to the memory, it was not able to eliminate entirely the sensation of fear he gets when enduring pain. He sometimes gets some strange lingering thoughts, burning sensations, the sounds of an unknown woman and the image of an unknown boy. Wilson is about to scream out, when the search ends. Although the usual memoendorphines are used to calm him, due to the intensity of the search it does not work as effectively on him. Trying to keep the trembling from his voice, Wilson then speaks to the guard, "thanks for the search and good luck today". The guard briefly looks up, "Your welcome Mr. Wilson smith. After all the searches are used to help stop terrorism from destroying our quality of life and prevent us by living with their rules". He then turns away, before going onto the next person. Wilson walks off pale as a ghost and sweating, his mind is thudding but the only thought in Wilson head is how lucky he is to have such freedom, as he staggers away.
- Linda deals with mum and daughter at bank
- Intro effects on youth of society
After the unpleasantness of rejecting Dennis Milton, Linda now moves to refocus her thoughts as she looks up to see her next client. They are a woman who is smiling while holding the hand of the younger teenage girl, who is shifting around. Linda now responds, "hi I am Linda Wilson, take a seat and place your head into the memoriser and I will begin to assess your case". The older woman now places her head into the memoriser, while Linda is hit by the information. The woman, Laura Goldstein is here to open a new memoaccount for her daughter as it is her 18th birthday today. Linda now looks up from the memoriser, smiling, and then turning to her daughter, "Congratulations, it's always nice to get a new customer, ready to become a citizen. You must be looking forward to the initiation". Linda receives no response to this, which is a bit odd. Linda then replaces herself back into the memoriser and performs a memocredit check her mother to act as guarantor. Linda now begins memochecks, looking through her memohistory. Happily this time, there is no rejection unlike Dennis Milton earlier. The record appears to be clean, always supportive of the government and providing strong support for her family. In fact this is a record that might be useful to closed mind as a potential spy for them, looking out for citizens not complying with societal norms like not using memorisers, memothieves or other anti-social activities. Both she and the bank would get extra memocredits if closed mind spooks accept her as a recruit. Linda fires out an inquiry to closed mind, while the scan proceeds. After the memoriser powers down, she turns to talk with the daughter, who gives her a sullen look. Slightly puzzled, but maintaining a smile on her face, Linda speaks out, "all right it's your turn now hun. Just do what your mum did and then we shall have the account open". The daughter looks at her mum, eyes darting wildly and gripping her arm, "mum are you sure this thing is okay. Some of my friends at school say the memorisers do things to your mind". Linda laughs and then automatically replies, "No need to believe that childish rubbish, you just saw your mum do it and she is fine. I use memorisers all the time. No need to worry about that nonsense". The daughter still looks queasy but her mum now also reassures her, "Jane, go on you will be okay. I am here with you all the way". Finally she relents, moving her head into the memoriser. It now clasps onto her before it bursts into action. Linda smiles as she watches, it's always intriguing how the memoriser changing a child mind for the first time into a citizen, removing extreme youthful thoughts and replacing them with experience. This is why the vote is set at 18, to prevent undisciplined voters from interfering with it. Finally the memoriser powers down releasing Jane. She slowly moves her head out of the memoriser. Linda notices that her appearance is different; a distant vacant adult look has replaced the wild darting eyes on her face. After a few seconds she starts speaking, "thank you, I now see that I was wrong to have such silly thoughts. I promise that I will lead a good productive life as a citizen". Her mum starts to talk, "Jane, you are so different already. You sound all grown up and with your own memocredit account as well. You will be very successful at you're chosen career. We will celebrate when we find out tonight". Linda smiles as they leave, thinking back to her own eighteenth, where her career was chose by the memoriser. The memoriser analyses your thoughts and then based on its testing analysis it gives you the best career you match up with for life. Strangely Linda recall nothing of her own experience of going in, but she does remember leaving after using the memoriser in a calm disciplined mood, with her mother saying how different she was. Still according to the memoriser, the experiences beforehand are not useful anyway, so no need to think about that. Clearing her thoughts she now prepares to go for her break, unaware of where that thought came from.
- Wilson boards lift to work
- Intro work
- Intro Eduardo
Wilson still a bit absent minded from the scan, drifts along to the memosensor. Once in range, it scans him. After a few seconds, it fires out the action potential to trigger the memolift. Wilson relaxes his shoulders, while waiting, his mind begins to wonder. The memolift was one of our founder's greatest achievements. That they built a system, able to transport a person in seconds dozens of stories high, using neuropower alone. His thoughts are cut off by the ding noise of the door opening. Wilson steps through, while it scans him and begins to lift off. Wilson can feel the massive wave hit him as he is propelled upwards. Finally the journey ends, as the memolift halts and delivers Wilson to his fate. Wilson takes a deep breath, exiting onto the 7th floor, his workplace. Wilson looks over the department, filled with people rushing about working. While others are plugged into memorisers busy downloading the latest crime reports coming in. Wilson is interrupted by his partner Eduardo, "Ah, Detective Wilson it's good to see you today. We have everything ready to begin the trial today. I am just about to use the memoriser to gather the last remaining evidence now. Also one of your secretaries mentioned that repairs were made to your memoriser earlier on". Wilson smiles, "thanks partner, now just hope that there will not be a problem with the trial, never had a celebrity undergo this before". He moves on towards his office, listening to the chatting and conversing all around me as he goes on in. As detective, his job is to investigate crimes, convict criminals then to decide appeals against sentences given out for crimes, where he had a role as investigative officer. His job is to be the detective investigating the thought crime and then judging the person for that crime. Before memorisers, this used to be done by different people, but it became clear that it was much more efficient to have the one person investigating, judging and sentencing criminals for crime, as well as judging appeals. That at least was the government viewpoint, especially since some judges in earlier times forgot their job was to punish criminals and were judging government decisions. Wilson starts to drift, think about how good that if people are innocent, he can grant their appeal for freedom, a thought that makes him smile. Although he has never granted an appeal, this system works as it prevents us from tyranny. Imagining a world where you could not appeal against a sentence, it is a terrifying thought. Wilson shivers, before banishing that idea to the abyss.
- Linda breaks
- Social society effects
For her break, Linda walks along the memobank corridors, before entering the room at the end of it. Several of her colleagues from the bank are already there; some are using the memoriser to charge up, while others are talking. She starts to talk to a group that she knows, speaking out so they hear me "hey there Rodriguez. How are things going so far for you today". Rodriguez smiles, before replying, "Going well so far Linda. Has been busy but many people have been accepted today, more than normal. Perhaps the unsuitable have finally gotten the message that the customers we want are quality, not just the usual rubbish". She replies before sitting down, "yes I hope that will continue. I had a mother come in with her daughter for her eighteenth birthday today. Always feels good to see that at work". Linda lies back, the social system at the bank is almost as vital as the work for earning memocredits, with social bonus points given for every interaction you have with people. The memorisers try to avoid you ending up alone too long, for some reason, not entirely sure why that is. A puzzling thought which... Abruptly another worker, carol starts talking again, "so did anyone see that new programme on the memotv last night. You know the one strictly come memodancing". Rodriguez replies, "Yes I watched it with my wife. She is really impressed with the amazing abilities that some of the dancers have. Imagine being able to think at that speed, with only a small memohelmet on. Of course neither of us would ever try that, much better to watch it of course. We also tried watching the memo factor on the other channel for bit. It's amazing the memoabilities those people have". This starts off a whole round of talking and Linda forgets whatever it was that she was thinking about.
- Wilson suffers his incident
Wilson is about to enter his detective zone, when suddenly his assistant Leanne races over, "detective smith, your first appeal by CEO Abbasid Hong, has been cancelled, so you have the whole morning free. Also an engineer Xanax was up earlier on to repair your memoriser due to a small technical fault". He looks over at her a bit puzzled, but he covers that up when replying "thanks Leanne, I will be in my zone, alert me when the next client arrives". Wilson then adds, "I better check the memoriser, to find out what happened, as I was not given information about these events". Leanne smiles back, "yes of course detective. Have a good thoughtful break". Although it is not an actual regulation, when the unexpected happens it is generally the custom to go to the memoriser. All the big shots are using as much time on it as they can, trying to rise as fast to the top as possible. As he heads in to his zone, Wilson looks around. His zone is the sector which is his space for working on cases and hearing appeals against sentences. Zones were established when the colony was first created. This was to show that everyone was equal and to get rid of the old fashioned offices which only some people had. Now everyone gets a zone, but some are larger than others of course. He now places his head into the memoriser in his zone. Abruptly he feels horrifying pain throughout his body. Just as he is about to scream, Wilson collapses onto the floor.
- Linda leaves bank
- Suspicious incident occurs of being followed
Linda looks around, with the last customer of the bank leaving, gets ready to head out. Most the cases since lunch were routine, a few more loan applicants, although no rejects thankfully and routine memotax auditing, which I managed to complete early. As she departs Rodriquez shouts over, "goodbye Linda, best thoughts for your night". She smiles, and then shouts back, "thanks Rodriquez, his mind is with you as well. Have pleasant thoughtful night tonight". As she departs the memobank, she endures the normal routine memoscan. She now looks out into the world, smiling. Her mind begins to wonder as she thinks how this world is controlled by thoughts. What we think becomes our reality and if we think and work hard, we are rewarded in kind. I hope Wilson's day has been as good as mine has been. She heads over to cross the road. Just before she starts to cross, Linda hears something behind her. Surprised, she swivels round, but nothing unusual appears before her, must have just been imagining things. Clearing that unpleasant thought from her mind, Linda now head home.
- Wilson awakens
- Tries to hide what happened
Wilson arises, his view is hazy and his ears are still ringing. He waits on the ground, struggling to understand what is going on. Slowly his sight begins to reappear as time passes slowly. Nothing appears to have changed in the room, but his head is incredibly sore and he still feels a bit queasy. Suddenly he hears a screeching noise from the memocom, "Wilson, your next appeal is now ready to be heard. Hope you enjoyed your morning off". Still not back to himself, he tries to bluff through this, managing to croak out a response “thanks Leanne. Also can you get that engineer back again. Whatever he did does not appear to have worked". Leanne replies, "Certainly sir, I think he was from the thought security corporation. I will contact them to fix the memoriser again". Hoping that the bluff has worked, those that are unwell lose memocredits and with the roof leaking I need the memocredits. Now he looks around, things do look a little odd at the moment, whatever happened in that memoriser appears to have had a strange affect on his perception. The room looks much greyer than before and he does not feel the normal relaxing feeling he is used to. Wilson tries to leave that thought and prepare for the work ahead and the appeals to be heard. He hopes no one will know that he has not used the memoriser today and what it did.
- Wilson gets ready to leave after last case
- Side effects start to kick in
After several routine cases, it is now the time is 1600 and Wilson has only one client to get past before he can leave. It seems a Miss Danielle Cameron, has been committing fraud by copying memories from others and using them as her own. He now sits in his judgement chair, then using as stern a voice as he can muster speak out "miss Cameron, why are you appealing this sentence". The prisoner quivers before him, then replies, "d-d-detective judge Wilson smith sir, I only did this so I could serve our nation better and to build a better life. These memomillionaires did not miss it and I created a lot by creating a new business. Over 1000 people got work because of me sir". He gives her a stern look "Miss Cameron, you committed memofraud and no matter what result you intended, you still committed a crime against neuron and equality. You violated the constitution of our world. No one can improve themselves without helping everyone else first; just think of all those victims of killings in the terror attacks. What would they say if they found out you were attacking the freedoms they had died defending". She gives me a shocked look, "sir, this is nothing to do with my appeal". With a thumping headache and a strong desire to go home, he has had enough; Wilson shouts over to the security guard "rand remove this lady please". He is finally done for the day, having successfully prevented himself from sympathy thoughts for clients, which are costly in memocurrency. He now heads down towards the memotube, which does not recognise me at first. But someone else goes on and heads down same place as him. Wilson is glad that there are no memochecks at night. It is beginning to gnaw on his mind, what is he going to do now. He just hopes that the memoriser at home will fix whatever went wrong earlier. I head towards the memocar to get back home. It delays taking me in for a while for some reason, before its scans eventually accept me. As he heads on home his head is still feeling a bit strange, but he ignores it for now. He heads in and sees Linda who then speaks to me, "hi honey how was your day". Wilson replies "ok but I feel a bit odd. The memoriser at work had some issues and needs repairing. Well I am just going to go to bed after using the memoriser". Linda looks back on me with concern, says "ok then honey, have a good night and hope your back to normal. We can't have the illness ruining our memocredit rating". Smiling despite himself, I grit a reply "of course not". Wilson then heads to the memoriser. But as he is about to cash in on the memories he gained today, he suddenly feel dizzy and sick. He then leaves, as memories of feeling unwell are worthless on the memonet. It's the type of thing that will attract the attention of the closed mind in a bad way, as terrorists often start out that way, feeling unwell before they turn evil. Still worried he heads to bed shattered, he needs to recover or else suffer the consequences, a thought that makes him shiver.
- Intro CEO Abbasid Hong
- Communication with Nhoj Htims
After watching Wilson leave the station, CEO Abbasid Hong looks around, to make sure that he is not being watched. He then approaches a memoriser, after attaching a jamming device to it, to prevent others listening in. He then sends out a message to Nhoj Htims, the head of the closed mind spy network. After several second a reply is received "Mr. Abbasid Hong, what can I do for you today". He sends a reply through the memoriser, "Nhoj Htims that police officer is becoming a problem now. His investigation of my business is now posing threat to our mutual interests. If it was not for you I would now have been cleansed of the information for our work today". Nhoj Htims replies "well Mr. Hong, you work for me and I take care of my workers, this man will no longer be a problem very soon. I have my own special revenge for him. Did you speak to his engineer earlier". Mr. Hong replies, "Yes he carried out the work you wished. Whatever you wanted it to do to him is now done. But what of the memory itself, does the police officer still have that information within him. If the president was to get hold of what we did to his daughter that knowledge could cause a major incident". Nhoj Htims now replies, "Well it appears that something did not go as expected earlier on. However, the situation is under control. Now I am busy and must go. Be more careful with your sales targets. Intervention is very awkward for me and I do not like mistakes". After Nhoj Htims cuts off, he smiles to himself. He has a plan to teach that detective to keep his mind out of his business
